Scalise Shreds Shameless Attacks On 2nd Amendment

Republican Representative Steve Scalise shredded the Democrats’ efforts to annihilate the Second Amendment in the wake of the horrific mass shooting that unfolded in Uvalde, Texas.

The Louisiana representative, who was previously shot himself by a deranged Democrat, remarked that the Democrats are attempting to “take away guns” in the wake of the shooting during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday.”

Scalise noted that the Democrats were far too reactionary, demonstrating little interest in tracing the source of the rage that has propelled multiple mass shootings in the past few years.

“When you have a shooting, instead of sitting down and asking ‘OK, what is really causing this … it immediately becomes a debate about taking away guns,” Scalise remarked during his appearance on Fox News.

Scalise continued on to defend a preventative, rather than reactive, stance.

“We need to be focused more on stopping things before they happen,” Scalise continued, adding that Democrats were effectively uninterested in such a conversation, which is not occurring now though “it should be.”

“It immediately becomes about Democrats wanting to take away guns,” Scalise continued.

The Republican also commented on the Democrats’ disturbing lack of respect for due process, noting that “under the guise of a red flag,” it is possible for government officials to enter private homes and remove people’s firearms, “without [them] even knowing that there as some kind of proceeding.”

A random, anonymous, potentially leftist intelligence analyst, for instance, could claim that a given person is “a threat” for whatever reason, resulting in another government official acting upon that person’s Second Amendment protections.

That method is not how rights are addressed in the United States, as “due process is a constitutional right,” Scalise continued.

Scalise also offered practical preventative strategies, including doing “a better job of connecting the dots and stopping something before it happens.”

“We need to be helping get kids more engaged in alerting authorities if they see something they’re concerned about,” Scalise added.

The representative also noted that record-breaking gun sales can be attributed, at least in part, to self-protection in big cities where Democrats’ lax, criminal-friendly policies have enabled “smash and grab crimes,” alongside even darker possibilities in the future.

“[Criminals] will go on to commit more crimes and worse crimes,” Scalise concluded.
